The Word Art Collective is a non-profit initiative established by a group of curators and writers based in London, generously supported by the European Commission and our partner gallery, Hoxton Arches. We are curating an exhibition of art and design by artists whose work explores the theme of European identity, taking as its base an interest in language.
The exhibition displays work in a variety of mediums by a group of exceptional emerging artists and designers selected and commissioned by the Word Art Collective especially for the show. Alongside this will be a digital art installation chosen from submissions we have received (see Submissions page), one of which will be awarded a €300 prize.
Our panel of judges will comprise the members of the Word Art Collective, chaired by Glenn Adamson, Head of Research at the Victoria & Albert Museum and distinguished curator of contemporary art and design.
Amandine Alessandra, Kofi Allen, Nicole Bachmann, Tom Crawford, Nick Hayes, Sadie Hennessy, Wonwoo Lee, Daria Makarenko, Mobstr, Courttia Newland, Matthew Raw and Yun Yu.
The Word Art Collective is supported by Glenn Adamson.
The exhibition is supported by Hoxton Arches Events Ltd. Based at Arch 402 in East London, the gallery plays a vital role in showcasing the work of emerging and mid-career artists.
The project has been funded with support from the European Commission as part of the British Council’s Youth in Action programme. More information about the programme can be found at: http://www.britishcouncil.org/youthinaction.htm
We would also like to thank Lauren Fried for her contribution.
